God Within You
What if God were within you?
Maybe you would change the way you
pray. Maybe you would whisper. Maybe you would touch your heart
while you pray. Maybe you would pay attention to your breath as if
it were God’s breath. Maybe your prayer would be wordless and you
would simply relish the Presence within you.If God were within you, maybe you would
change the way you face loss or even tragedy. Maybe you would no
longer wonder why God is absent. Maybe you would reach inside to
find strength and wisdom. And maybe you would stop expecting a
dramatic religious experience. Maybe you would know that when you experience compassion you are sharing God’s heart. The same with
generosity, gratitude, forgiveness, and the joy of living. If God were within you, maybe you would
know your intrinsic value when you can no longer perform and achieve, or when you lose your looks or your health, or when people don’t seem to
need or appreciate or admire you.If God were within you, you might
understand spiritual life in a new way. You might understand what
Jesus meant when he said, “The Father and I are One.” You might
understand what he meant when he said, “I will send the Spirit to dwell in you.”If God were within you and others, you
might be able to love your neighbor and even your enemy, as Jesus
commanded. The Good News from Jesus is this: God IS within you. God IS within others. When you live from this truth you change, and so does the world!

Thank you, Saint Sebastian, for helping us in our relationship. It’s tough because our families are against our love. Amapola Ruiz and Enriqueta Vazquez give thanks.
